Lab Testing

Laboratory tests can help us get a complete picture of your health, and allow for a more targeted and effective treatment plan. I currently offer saliva, urine and stool testing for a number of hormones, immune markers and pathogens. These non-invasive testing methods are safe, reliable and clinically relevant.

These tests can be ordered at any point during the consultation process. In fact, if you are not sure if you are ready to commit to a Comprehensive Initial Appointment yet, you are more than welcome to order one of the following tests to get things started (the cost of the test includes a 20-minute appointment where we discuss your test results).

Here are a few of the available test panels:

Adrenal Stress Index (ASI):

The Adrenal Stress Index uses five saliva samples to assess cortisol, insulin, DHEA/DHEA-S, secretory IgA, 17-OH progesterone, and wheat gluten sIgA. Saliva is collected over a period of 24 hours, providing more complete information about your body’s stress response than a single test. This is ideal for people dealing with chronic stress and stress-related symptoms such as insomnia, anxiety, fatigue and weight gain.

Female Hormone Panels (FHP)

These tests are useful in determining possible causes of irregular or painful periods, infertility or miscarriage, PMS (mood changes, breast tenderness, water retention, cramping), low libido, migraines. Can also be helpful to monitor hormone therapy.

The Cycling Female Hormone Panel (CFHP): measures 11 saliva samples that are gathered at specific time points throughout one complete menstrual cycle. The CFHP provides a dynamic mapping of the active levels of Estradiol (E2) and Progesterone (P). In addition, the cycle average of testosterone, DHEA, FSH and LH are measured.

Post Menopause Hormone Panel (MHP): A single snapshot measurement of your hormone levels. Includes estrone, estradiol, estriol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and DHEA-S.

Peri-Menopause Hormone Panel (PMHP): compares two samples at different points in the menstrual cycle. Measures estrone, estradiol, estriol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and DHEA-S, LH and FSH.

Male Hormone Panels (MHP)

The Male Hormone Panel provides information to begin restoring vitality, well-being, and passion for life. Seven different hormone levels are measured to display a comprehensive picture of male hormonal balance. These include testosterone, androstenedione, DHEA and DHEA-S, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), estrone & estradiol (estrogens), progesterone. Information about your hormone levels can be valuable when evaluating for conditions related to infertility, sexual dysfunction, and andropause—an age-related decline in male hormone levels.

Gastrointestinal Panel (GI Panel)

Using a saliva and stool sample, this panel uses 22 separate diagnostic tests to help you determine the root cause of symptoms such as abdominal pain, gas/bloating, constipation, diarrhea, cramping, heartburn, chronic skin conditions, fatigue and more. These tests include screens for pathogens (bacteria, yeasts, protozoa, parasites) enzyme levels, immunochemical markers (for food sensitivities), intestinal function markers (to evaluate inflammation), and occult blood. Please download the brochure to see the whole list.

Food Sensitivity Panel

The Food Panel (FP) measures antibodies (salivary IgA or sIgA) to some of the most common food allergens – gluten (gliadin), milk (casein), egg (ovalbumin), and soy (protein). It also includes a measurement of the total salivary sIgA to provide context for interpreting the food specific sIgA results. This panel is useful for people trying to identify the cause of symptoms such as digestive disturbances (diarrhea, constipation, gas, bloating, GERD, ulcers), skin reactions, painful joints, respiratory symptoms (congestion, asthma, runny nose), headaches, anxiety depression, fatigue etc…
